Ollie Twist, otherwise known as "Nucleus", spearheaded the Rhyme Skeme with long time friend and business partner Shaun DoobE in June of 1998. Twist's recording abilities made him the perfect candidate for producer with his keyboard/guitar playing skills. Since then Twist and the Rhyme Skeme have prolifically released over 20 full length albums that have helped to amass a following in Connecticut's Greater Hartford area. Ollie Twist's most popular projects to date are the 2003 release of "Twistology" which was his first major public release, co produced by Mental Instruments Music Company.
With the momentum from "Twistology" Twist decided to launch Rhyme Skeme Productions as an official business and went on to record the mammoth 22 track epic group album "Organized Rhyme" in August 2004. Still today the most definitive Rhyme Skeme album featuring all original members; Ollie Twist, DoobE, Steve Nyce, Flare, EMC, Shadow, Kastro, Shadi & Phenom. This album featured the single "Reality Strikes" guest starring Wu-Tang Killa Bee Remedy (Code Red Entertainment) who also produced the track. "Holy Ghost" and "Great Swordsmen" were production contributions from Mental Instruments.
By October of 2005 Twist released the self titled album "Nucleus" which remains the most downloaded album in Rhyme Skeme Productions history. The production, lyrical development and vocal delivery were more mature than any other project up to this point. Twist also fully produced the record "Clear The Haze" which was to be the first solo album released by another Rhyme Skeme member Kastro. The record was a limited release and hit the streets in December of 2006. Kastro proved to be a talented and versatile MC on Twist's production spawning classic tracks such as "Teflon Thesis", "Do My Thang", "Mynd Blown" & "Thrillride".
On April 20th, 2007 Ollie Twist arranged a compilation of tracks entiled "Ruthless Self Promotion" featuring over 20 tracks of Rhyme Skeme music that was recorded here and there over the years but never released.
During this time period Twist and Kastro (now Tommy Marin) teamed up to create a full length album and created the project Frequency 420 by popular demand. The album was entirely co-produced by Mental Instruments and features the smash street hit and first single, "Lazy Eye" featuring Raekwon from Wu-Tang Clan remaining without question the biggest accomplishment to date for Rhyme Skeme Productions. The record was made with a commercial edge featuring highly polished, radio friendly beats. The tracks "FREAK", "Raise Up" & "Box With God" were also highlighted as singles. The CD hit the streets and internet April 20th, 2008.
On March 8th, 2009 Ollie Twist released the highly anticipated internet exclusive "Twistology 2" a concept album dealing with faith, music and politics......
Currently Ollie Twist is working on numerous records including a hip hop/rock project with a live band entitled "Enemy Concept", RSPV2 (Ruthless Self Promotion Volume 2), the fourth CD from Rhyme Skeme protege Jiceman "It's Last Call", an album with Polish rap group West Zone and a mix album with Solomon Childs among other things.
Overall Twist's music has roots deeply planted in the elements of intellectual lyrics locked into mostly dark hip-hop beats. With production sometimes layered and other times very stripped-down to highlight the lyrical content, there is certainly some degree of versatility. At times tracks are topical, regarding everything from science, politics and everyday life to simply creative poetic wordplay. Throw that together with a few party bangers and heartfelt ballads and that pretty much completes the scope. However, Twist is constantly creating new music and attempting to expand the current parameters of his sound. Twist also is a guitarist and has used numerous guitar tracks over the years on Rhyme Skeme tracks incorporating a rock feel to some of their work.
